Knitting for Olive is a yarn producer from Denmark. With a magical color range, high quality and clear goals for animal and human welfare, they have taken the yarn world by storm.

Heavy Merino is a yarn made from 100% merino wool. The yarn has a beautiful, natural texture, is soft and wonderful to knit with. However, the merino wool used in this yarn is not the same merino wool used in Knitting for Olive - Merino, but is a bit coarser.

The wool comes from sheep in New Zealand, where muesling does not occur. The wool can be traced back to the farm it comes from. Merino wool has several good properties, including being temperature-regulating, which means that the wool retains body heat in cold weather and helps the body get rid of excess heat. At the same time, wool, just like silk, can transport away moisture and wool can absorb 30% of its weight without feeling wet. Wool is also dirt-repellent and does not need to be washed often.

The yarn is produced in Italy at a spinning mill and is STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified.

  • Material: 100% merino wool
  • Length/weight: 125 m/50 grams
  • Recommended needle: 4.5 mm
  • Stitch strength: 18 mx 26 v / 10 x 10 cm
  • The yarn is produced in Italy.
  • The finished garment is washed by hand with detergent intended for wool.

About color reproduction

We always do our utmost to ensure that the product images reproduce the colors correctly. However, monitors display colors differently, some may display them deeper and stronger while others brighter. We therefore cannot guarantee that the pictures show the exact color of the yarn. You can always email us at hej@lillagarnbutiken.se if you want to see more pictures.

Wash and care

This yarn is best washed by hand with wool detergent, for example Eucalan. Let the garment lie in a tub with about 4 liters of water together with a teaspoon of wool detergent. Then gently squeeze out the water and place the garment on a towel. Roll the towel with the garment and squeeze out the water.

If you have a washing machine that can run a spin-only program, you can use this instead of squeezing out the water in a towel. If you are unsure about your washing machine, we recommend that you knit a test patch that you wash and spin to see how the yarn and fabric behave.

Let the garment dry flat, preferably on a towel. The garment should not be dried in direct sunlight, it can be in the sun without any problems when it is dry.
