The sweater is knitted top down in Peer Gynt .

The back piece is worked back and forth until it reaches under the sleeves. Furthermore, stitches are knitted along the shoulders on the left and right sides of the front piece. The shoulders are formed with turning rows and stitches are cast on towards the neck. The front pieces are knitted together when the slit is long enough for the zipper. From under the sleeves, the front and back pieces are knitted together to the full length, before finishing with an elastic band. Stitches are knitted around each armhole for the sleeves. The sleeves are worked in the round to the full length and finished with an elastic band. Finally, the neckline is knitted in elastic back and forth. Turning rows are knitted on the left and right sides of the neckline, so that it is higher at the front than at the back. It is folded down towards the wrong side and knitted back and forth with decreases over the front edge to follow it.
