This is a book in Danish or English.

Danish: How are we surrounded by the events of our lives, interpersonal meetings, places and experiences? And what creates a kunsthånd værker?

"Et Strikkeliv - ud i verden" is the second volume in a series of three, where Marianne Isager tells about her life with knitting over five decades. Here we are in the 90s, where Marianne Isager seriously begins to look around the world. We follow her on her travels to Latin America, Africa, Greenland and Nepal. Here the doors were opened to a wealth of inspiration. Not only patterns on textiles, curves and pottery, but also buildings, landscapes and all the wonderful things that fill the mind and soul when you visit a new place and feel the country's traditions, food, people and history, so that it completely creeps into the body. As in the first volume, a number of her earlier and most striking models are shown, which were typical of the time and the inspiration the travels gave her designs. The book also contains 16 completely new models with knitting patterns, which continue to build on the inspiration from the travels. What they all have in common is good craftsmanship, combined with a high yarn quality.

The small village of Tversted in northern Vendsyssel remains the anchor in the years with the many travelers. Tversted is also the home of the yarn company Isager, which today is run by Marianne Isager and daughter Helga Isager.

Do experiences in life transform us as human beings? Places where we live; conversations with people we meet; traveling to other countries; attending special events. What transforms and informs a craftsperson?

A Knitting Life – Out into the World is the second book of three in which Marianne Isager reveals her knitting life through five decades.

It wasn't until the 1990s that Marianne Isager truly began exploring the world. In this book we follow Marianne on her travels to Latin America, Africa, Greenland, and Nepal. On these journeys the gates open wide for an abundance of inspiration. Not just the patterns of textiles, baskets and pottery, but also architecture, landscapes and all of those wonders that will fill your mind and soul when you first visit a new place and experience the traditions, the food, the people, and the history of the country creeping into the core of your body. As in the first book a number of her previous and most significant designs are presented, many of which reflected the fashion of the day. This book also contains 16 new designs with knitting instructions based on the inspiration from her travels, all of them combining craftsmanship and yarn of high quality.

During these years filled with traveling, Marianne's home village, Tversted in the northern part of Denmark, remains the anchor in her life. Tversted is also the home for the yarn company Isager which is owned and operated by Marianne Isager and her daughter, Helga Isager.
