Snefnug (“snowflake”) is a super soft, light, airy but thick yarn entirely made from natural materials in a luscious blend of 55% baby alpaca, 10% extra fine merino wool, and 35% cotton.
Snefnug is manufactured at an Italian family owned spinning mill where the environment and animal welfare are taken into account, which of course means that the merino wool is mulesing free.

Snefnug has a cotton mesh tube as the core with a luscious blend of merino and baby alpaca blown into it, making it a hard wearing but super soft and exclusive yarn. Snefnug is perfect for baby and children’s knits as well as the trending oversized adult knits such as sweaters, cardigans, scarfs, and beanies made on big needles.

Snefnug is Aran weight yarn, bordering on chunky, with 4-6 mm as the recommended needle size and a recommended gauge of 12-16 sts and about 24 rows per 10 cm.

Handwashing the finished project is recommended. Use a wool detergent and lay flat to dry. Machine-washing can make the finished project shrink by 7%, but it will stretch in use.
It is also recommended to knit ribbing a bit tighter as these too will stretch in use.

About color reproduction

We always do our utmost to ensure that the product images reproduce the colors correctly. However, monitors display colors differently, some may display them deeper and stronger while others brighter. We therefore cannot guarantee that the pictures show the exact color of the yarn. You can always email us at hej@lillagarnbutiken.se if you want to see more pictures.

Wash and care

This yarn is best washed by hand with wool detergent, for example Eucalan. Let the garment lie in a tub with about 4 liters of water together with a teaspoon of wool detergent. Then gently squeeze out the water and place the garment on a towel. Roll the towel with the garment and squeeze out the water.

If you have a washing machine that can run a spin-only program, you can use this instead of squeezing out the water in a towel. If you are unsure about your washing machine, we recommend that you knit a test patch that you wash and spin to see how the yarn and fabric behave.

Let the garment dry flat, preferably on a towel. The garment should not be dried in direct sunlight, it can be in the sun without any problems when it is dry.
